Women's hoops at Georgia State tonight
The women's basketball team looks to make it two wins in a row and go 2-0 in the conference Thursday night when it takes on the Georgia State Panthers at the GSU Sports Arena in Atlanta, Ga. at 6 p.m. Northeastern started the new year on the right foot with a 57-52 win over Hofstra in its CAA opener. The Huskies have won four out of the last six meetings against the GSU.

Women's hockey at BU tonight
The women's hockey team travels across town tonight to take on the No. 9 Boston University Terriers at BU's Walter Brown Arena at 7 p.m. Northeastern is coming off a 2-1 loss to Brown Jan. 3, and is currently in sixth place in Hockey East. Freshman defenseman Stephanie Ganvronsky tallied her second goal of the season against Brown, and will look for more against the Terriers.

Vidarsson named third-team All-Region
Sophomore Petur Vidarsson of the men's soccer team was recently named to the NSCAA All-South Atlantic region third team. Vidarsson was one of thirteen CAA players to earn All-Region honors, and was part of a Husky defensive unit that set program records in several defensive categories.

Men's hockey alumni in the pros
There are 13 former members of the men's hockey team finding success playing hockey professionally around the world, including Michael Ryan who was recently named to the AHL All-Star team. Other former Huskies have found success in far away places such as South Korea, Germany, and Denmark.

Men's hockey hosts Merrimack Friday night
The men's hockey team plays its first home game in over a month when it hosts Merrimack at Matthews Arena on Friday night at 7 p.m. The fourth-ranked Huskies beat Western Michigan 3-1 and fell to current No. 2 Minnesota 3-2 in overtime in the Dodge Holiday Classic last weekend. The Huskies resume their Hockey East slate with a 12-4-2 overall record and an 8-2-1 Hockey East mark. Friday's game will be broadcast on 890 ESPN Boston and WRBB Radio.

Marty, Schelling return from MLP Nations Cup
Julia Marty and Florence Schelling of the women's hockey team recently returned from Ravensburg, Germany where they competed with the Swiss national team in the MLP Nations Cup Jan. 2-6. Marty posted two assists in three games, while Schelling made 67 saves in two starts. The pair re-joins the Huskies, who take on Boston University Thursday at 7 p.m.

Men's hoops tops GSU, 68-54
The men's basketball team shot 53.8 percent from the field in a 68-54 victory over Georgia State Wednesday night in Atlanta. The Huskies have now won six out of their last seven games and improve to 4-0 in the CAA. Matt Janning led NU with his first career double-double, going for 11 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Chaisson Allen, Manny Adako, and Eugene Spates all scored in double figures. The Huskies return home Saturday when they host Towson at 3 p.m. in a game that will be televised on Comcast SportsNet.

Men's hoops routs Hofstra, 73-50
The men's basketball team forced 25 Hofstra turnovers while Manny Adako scored a game-high 16 points as the Huskies cruised to a 73-50 victory over the Pride Monday night at Matthews Arena. Three other Huskies scored in double digits and Chaisson Allen added eight points, eight rebounds, six steals and five assists. Northeastern is now 3-0 in the CAA for the first time since joining the conference.

Mandeville to play in East-West Shrine Game
Senior tight end Brian Mandeville of the football team has accepted an invitation to play in the 84th annual East-West Shrine Game on Saturday, Jan. 17 in Houston, Texas. Mandeville will play for the East team under former NFL and college head coach Bobby Ross. A two-time All-CAA Football and All-New England selection from Walpole, Mass., Mandeville finished his Northeastern career with 63 receptions for 863 yards and seven touchdowns. The game will air on ESPN2 on Jan. 17 at 4 p.m.

Women's hoops tops Hofstra, 57-52
The women's basketball team snapped Hofstra's seven-game win streak and gave the Pride their first home loss of the season with a 57-52 victory Sunday afternoon at Mack Sports Complex in Hempstead, N.Y. Jasmine Crew hit four free-throws down the stretch to secure a NU victory. Crew led the Huskies with 12 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the charity stripe. Brittany Wilson and Kendra Walton contributed with 11 points each. Northeastern continues CAA play Thursday at Georgia State.

Men's hockey falls to No. 4 Minnesota
The sixth-ranked men's hockey team took No. 4 Minnesota to overtime but took a 3-2 loss to the Gophers in the final of the Dodge Holiday Classic on Saturday in Minneapolis, Minn. The back-and-forth game featured goals from Wade MacLeod and Tyler McNeely before Patrick White scored the game-winner for Minnesota at 1:38 in overtime. MacLeod, Louis Liotti and Brad Thiessen were named to the All-Tournament team. Northeastern has a home-and-home series with Merrimack next weekend, hosting the Warriors at Matthews Arena on Friday at 7 p.m.
