Devin Crosby has been named the Assistant Athletics Director for Development at Northeastern University, Athletics Director Peter Roby announced Tuesday. He will oversee the Athletics Department's fundraising efforts, working closely with Roby as well as the University's Office of Development. Crosby comes to Northeastern after spending the last two years as the Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing & Promotions at the University of Virginia.

Moriarty gets CAA cross country honor
Senior Brittany Moriarty of the women's cross country team has been named CAA Co-Runner of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Moriarty received the honor after running a 22:14 in the 6K course at the George Mason Invitational on Saturday at Bull Run Park in Centreville, Va. She placed 10th overall and was the top runner from any CAA school.

Football vs. UMass Saturday
The football team goes for three straight victories Saturday when the Huskies host No. 13/11 Massachusetts at Parsons Field at 12 p.m. Northeastern is coming off a 35-17 win at Towson last Saturday to start 1-0 in CAA Football. UMass is coming off a 17-7 win over No. 16/14 Delaware to improve to 1-1 in the conference. Saturday's game will broadcast live on 890 ESPN Boston and WRBB Radio. The game will be televised on Comcast SportsNet and live video will be on GoNU.TV.

See the Huskies play at Maine
Northeastern is sponsoring a bus trip to see the men's hockey team play Maine at Alfond Arena on Friday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. followed by the football team's 12 p.m. game against the Black Bears at Alfond Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 25. Tickets for the bus are $40 and come with a free ticket to the football game. A hotel room is $100 and a hockey ticket is $20. NU students get into the hockey game for free. Kehoe earns conference, national accolades
Sophomore Kristi Kehoe of the women's hockey team was named Hockey East Player of the Week and USCHO.com National Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Kehoe earned the honors by tallying five points in NU's two games this weekend, including her first career hat trick in Sunday's 6-0 win over Union.

Women's soccer defeats George Mason in OT
The women's soccer team defeated George Mason 1-0 in overtime Sunday at Parsons Field. The lone goal was scored by Lesley Condie at 93:28. That was Condie's first goal of the season The Huskies are now 3-1-0 in CAA play. The Huskies travel to William and Mary Friday at 7 p.m.

Orio a semifinalist for Draddy Trophy
Senior quarterback Anthony Orio of the football team has been named a semifinalist for the Draddy Trophy, given out to the nation's best and brightest student-athlete on the football field. Candidates for the award must have a strong GPA, make significant contributions on the field, and demonstrate leadership and good citizenship. Orio, who graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Biochemistry, is Northeastern's leading passer this season. 15 finalists for the award will be named on Oct. 29.

Field hockey falls to UNH, 4-1
The field hockey team suffered a 4-1 loss to the New Hampshire Wildcats at UNH's Memorial Field in Durham, NH. Pam Aldridge scored the Huskies' only goal, as the team drops to 6-5 with the loss. The Huskies are back in action Wednesday, Oct. 8, when they take on Harvard at 7 p.m. at the Crimson's Jordan Field.

Football tops Towson
The football team scored 28 unanswered points to overcome a 10-point deficit and defeat the Towson Tigers 35-17 Saturday at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md. Chris Plum had a career-high 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Alex Broomfield rushed for 102 yards and a score. Anthony Orio threw for 238 yards and two TDs while John Sperrazza connected with Rob Theoudele on a 37-yard TD pass. The Huskies won their CAA Football opener and host Massachusetts next Saturday at 12 p.m. The game will be televised on Comcast SportsNet.

Women's hockey defeats Union, 6-0
The women's hockey team left New York with a decisive 6-0 win over Union Saturday. Kristi Kehoe scored a hat trick, while Ali Bielawski and junior transfer Kasey Cedorchuk each had two-point games. Sophomore goalie Leah Sulyma made six saves and earned the shutout as the Huskies improve to 2-0 on the season. NU plays at Bemidji State next Friday at 7 p.m.

Field hockey downs Stanford 3-2 on Alumnae Day
The field hockey team earned a 3-2 win over the Stanford Cardinal Saturday at Sweeney Field. The Huskies led 2-1 at half, but the game was tied early in the second before senior co-captain Jillian Wilkes scored the game-winning goal late in the period. NU field hockey celebrated its annual Alumnae Day and welcomed many past team members and current friends of the program to Sweeney Field for the game. The Huskies improve to 6-4 with the win and travel to New Hampshire Sunday

Volleyball sweeps Mason
The volleyball team swept George Mason 3-0 on Saturday earning its seventh straight win. Captain Lauren DeTurk posted another double-double with a match-high 16 kills, a hit percentage of .393 and 11 digs. Jessica Tkachuk had a match-high 40 assists and also recorded eight digs. Sophomore Caitlin Tittl had a solid match with six kills and a match-high five blocks. The Huskies are now 9-7 overall, 3-0 in the CAA, and will play at Virginia Commonwealth next Friday night at 7 p.m.

Cross country strong at George Mason Invitational
The women's cross country team placed fourth and the men's cross country team took sixth in the George Mason Invitational. The women's squad led all CAA schools and the men's team was second among CAA. The women's team was led by Brittany Moriarty, who took 10th overall, and the men's team was led by Teddy Vrountas, who took 18th in the men's race. The race was held at the site of the CAA Championship, which is Nov. 1.

Men's soccer ties Georgia State
The men's soccer team got an unusual goal off Lars Okland's back in the second half to tie Georgia State 2-2 Saturday afternoon. The Huskies also got an early goal from Lewis Ehrlich, which is his fourth of the season. The Huskies' record is now 3-2-4 and will be back in action on Wednesday when they take on Hofstra at Parsons Field at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on GoNU.TV.
