Men's hoops tops Georgia State
The men's basketball team shot 53.8 percent from the field in a 68-54 victory over Georgia State Wednesday night in Atlanta, Ga. The Huskies have won six out of their last seven games and now improve to 4-0 in the CAA. Matt Janning led NU with 11 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Chaisson Allen, Manny Adako, and Eugene Spates all scored in double figures for NU. The Huskies return home Saturday when they host Towson at 3 p.m.

Women's hoops at Georgia State Thursday
The women’s basketball team looks to make it two wins in a row and go 2-0 in the conference Thursday night when it takes on the Georgia State Panthers at the GSU Sports Arena in Atlanta, Ga. at 6 p.m. Northeastern started the new year on the right foot with a 57-52 win over Hofstra in its CAA opener. The Huskies have won four out of the last six meetings against the GSU.

Men's hoops routs Hofstra, 73-50
The men's basketball team forced 25 Hofstra turnovers while Manny Adako scored a game-high 16 points as the Huskies cruised to a 73-50 victory over the Pride Monday night at Matthews Arena. Three other Huskies scored in double digits and Chaisson Allen added eight points, eight rebounds, six steals and five assists. Northeastern is now 3-0 in the CAA for the first time since joining the conference.

Mandeville to play in East-West Shrine Game
Senior tight end Brian Mandeville of the football team has accepted an invitation to play in the 84th annual East-West Shrine Game on Saturday, Jan. 17 in Houston, Texas. Mandeville will play for the East team under former NFL and college head coach Bobby Ross. A two-time All-CAA Football and All-New England selection from Walpole, Mass., Mandeville finished his Northeastern career with 63 receptions for 863 yards and seven touchdowns. The game will air on ESPN2 on Jan. 17 at 4 p.m.

Women's hoops tops Hofstra, 57-52
The women's basketball team snapped Hofstra's seven-game win streak and gave the Pride their first home loss of the season with a 57-52 victory Sunday afternoon at Mack Sports Complex in Hempstead, N.Y. Jasmine Crew hit four free-throws down the stretch to secure a NU victory. Crew led the Huskies with 12 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the charity stripe. Brittany Wilson and Kendra Walton contributed with 11 points each. Northeastern continues CAA play Thursday at Georgia State.

Men's hockey falls to No. 4 Minnesota
The sixth-ranked men's hockey team took No. 4 Minnesota to overtime but took a 3-2 loss to the Gophers in the final of the Dodge Holiday Classic on Saturday in Minneapolis, Minn. The back-and-forth game featured goals from Wade MacLeod and Tyler McNeely before Patrick White scored the game-winner for Minnesota at 1:38 in overtime. MacLeod, Louis Liotti and Brad Thiessen were named to the All-Tournament team. Northeastern has a home-and-home series with Merrimack next weekend, hosting the Warriors at Matthews Arena on Friday at 7 p.m.

Men's hoops beats William & Mary
The men's basketball team limited William & Mary to a season-low 44 points, and Matt Janning scored 22 points on 7-of-9 shooting as the Huskies routed the Tribe 60-44 Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena. Manny Adako added 13 points and three blocks, and Chaisson Allen chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds. The Huskies will play again on Monday when they host Hofstra at Matthews Arena at 7 p.m. Monday's game will broadcast live on WRBB Radio and will have live video on GoNU.TV.

Women's hockey falls to Brown
The women's hockey team took a 2-1 loss to Brown Saturday at the Bears' Meehan Auditorium. The Huskies got a goal from Stephanie Gavronsky, but it was not enough to overcome a two-goal Brown lead. The Huskies drop to 7-8-2 with the loss. Northeastern's next game is Thursday at Boston University.

Men's hockey beats Western Michigan to advance
The No. 6 men's hockey team beat Western Michigan 3-1 and will face No. 4 Minnesota in the final of the Dodge Holiday Classic on Friday in Minneapolis, Minn. The Huskies got goals from Steve Quailer, Chris Donovan and Wade MacLeod and outshot the Broncos 40-24. Goalie Brad Thiessen made 23 saves.

Women's hockey falls to Yale, 2-0
The women's hockey team suffered a 2-0 setback to the Yale Bulldogs Friday night at Matthews Arena. Leah Sulyma made 30 saves on the night, and kept the Huskies within a goal until the final seconds, when Yale added an empty net score to seal the win.

Men's hoops loses to Memphis
The men's basketball team lost to the Memphis Tigers 80-48 Wednesday afternoon at FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn., snapping a three-game winning streak. Manny Adako led the team with 16 points on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting, but Northeastern was plagued by Memphis' full-court pressure, which helped produce 25 Husky turnovers.

Women's hoops falls in OT to Harvard
The women's basketball team fell in overtime to Harvard, 78-72 Wednesday afternoon at Solomon Court. The Huskies shot 47.3 percent from the field but clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch by the Crimson allowed the to sneak out with a win. Kim Carr led the way with 17 points, five boards, and three blocks. Jasmine Crew and Ashlee Feldman both scored in double figures with 15 and 12 points respectively.

Women's hoops falls to Delaware State
The women's basketball team fell to Delaware State, 61-38 Sunday afternoon at Solomon Court. The Lady Hornets shot 42.6 percent from the field including 50 percent from beyond the arc. Freshman Kashaia Cannon led the way with a team-high 10 points. Jasmine Crew added eight points, four rebounds and four assists while Ashlee Feldman produced nine points and four boards.

Men's hoops drops Indiana, 55-42
The men's basketball team knocked off the Indiana Hoosiers 55-42 Monday night at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Ind., behind 17 points from Matt Janning and a pesky Husky defense that forced 21 turnovers. It was Northeastern's first win over a Big Ten team since 1991 and the team's first win over the Hoosiers in three tries. Down 12-3 early in the first half, the Huskies went into halftime on a 25-6 run to take control of the game and never look back.

Women's hoops upends Holy Cross
The women’s basketball team defeated local rival Holy Cross 66-47 Monday afternoon at Solomon Court. Jasmine Crew lead the way for the Huskies with a game-high 18 points, six assists and five rebounds. Junior Kim Carr contributed with a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds), while Brittany Wilson chipped in with eight boards, four points, and four assists.

Women's hoops falls to UMass
The women's basketball team fell to Massachusetts, 80-51 Saturday afternoon at the Mullins Center in Amherst, Mass. The Huskies were led by Brittany Wilson who had 10 points, a team-high nine boards, and three blocks. Fellow freshman Kashaia Cannon added a team-high 13 points while Kendra Walton chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds.

Baseball Lead-Off Dinner Jan. 31
The baseball team's 2009 Huskies Baseball Lead-Off Dinner will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31 from 6-9 p.m. at the Northeastern University Alumni Center located at 716 Columbus Place. This year's alumni honoree is Huskies Hall of Famer and former Red Sox pitching prospect Greg Montalbano '00. Tickets are $75 per person ($50 for alumni of the past five years) and can be purchased by contacting the Husky Athletics Club at (617) 373-CLUB (2582).
