Northeastern to name 25th anniversary team
As part of Hockey East's 25th anniversary celebration, Northeastern Athletics will name a Hockey East All-Northeastern team featuring six forwards, four defensemen and two goalies who played for the Northeastern men's hockey team while it was a member of Hockey East (1984-85 through the present). NU is a charter member of Hockey East and won the championship in 1988. To decide the All-Northeastern team, a committee has been established along with an online fan vote.

Men's hockey hosts Maine Friday
The men's hockey team hosts Maine on Friday at Matthews Arena at 7 p.m. The sixth-ranked Huskies beat Maine 5-0 on Oct. 24 and 2-1 on Oct. 25 at Matthews Arena. Alex Tuckerman was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week after that series. Friday's game will be broadcast on 890 ESPN Boston and WRBB Radio and will have live video on GoNU.TV.

Women's hoops tops URI
The women's basketball team defeated Rhode Island 56-53 at the Ryan Center in Kingston, R.I. Kim Carr scored a career high 22 points in the win, and Kendra Walton posted 10 points and eight rebounds. Jasmine Crew chipped in 13 points and six assists as the Huskies picked up their first win of the season. Northeastern plays at Stony Brook Saturday at 2 p.m.

Men's hoops drops game to URI
The men's basketball team suffered an 85-72 defeat to the Rhode Island Rams Wednesday night at Matthews Arena. The Rams shot 63.5 percent and overcame a three-point, halftime deficit to defeat the Huskies. Vinny Lima scored 14 points on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting to lead the Huskies. Northeastern will open CAA play on Saturday at James Madison at 11 a.m. The game will be televised live on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic and will air on tape delay on Comcast SportsNet New England at 4 p.m.

Higgins, Mandeville named All-New England
Senior tight end Brian Mandeville and junior linebacker Phil Higgins of the football team were named to the All-New England team, the New England Football Writers announced on Wednesday. The two Huskies will be honored at the annual New England Football Writers Banquet in Wilmington, Mass., on Dec. 11. For Mandeville, this is his second consecutive season earning All-New England honors. This season, he caught 24 passes for 337 yards and two touchdowns. Higgins, a first-time All-New England honoree, led CAA Football in tackles with 122, the fifth-most tackles made in NU single-season history.

Thiessen named Goalie of the Month
Goaltender Brad Thiessen of the men's hockey team has been named the Hockey East's ITECH Goaltender of the Month for November, the conference announced Tuesday. Thiessen played every minute in net in November, posting a 5-2-1 record, .926 save percentage and 2.35 goals against average. Thiessen and the Huskies host Maine at Matthews Arena on Friday at 7 p.m.

Husky Ncentives leaderboard announced
Northeastern Athletics has announced the Husky Ncentives leaderboard at the conclusion of November's Athletics events. Junior Political Science major Christopher Kelly leads the way with 17 points. All students in the top three for November receive a gift card to the Northeastern bookstore. Husky Ncentives was introduced this season to give NU students prizes for attending Athletics events.

Women's soccer earns NSCAA Award
The women's soccer team qualified for the the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the fifth straight season accumulating a team GPA of 3.39. To earn national recognition a team must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. The Huskies are coming off a huge year after winning the CAA Championship and making it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Freshman Veronica Napoli was named CAA Rookie of the Year and was also named to both the All-CAA third team and All-CAA Rookie team along with Gabbi Jatkola.

Women's hockey falls to BC
The women's hockey team dropped their second game of the season to No. 8 Boston College Sunday at the Eagles' Conte Forum. Florence Schelling made 27 saves and kept the Huskies within one goal until the third period, but Northeastern could not find enough offense. The team's next game is Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. at Vermont.

Men's hockey defeats RPI, 5-1
Behind goals from five different skaters, the fourth-ranked men's hockey team defeated RPI 5-1 in the consolation game of the RPI Holiday Tournament in Troy, N.Y. Ryan Ginand scored for the fourth-straight game. Steve Quailer, Chris Donovan, Rob Rassey and Tyler McNeely also scored for the Huskies, and goalie Brad Thiessen made 25 saves. The Huskies improve to 10-3-2 overall and will host Maine next Friday night at Matthews Arena at 7 p.m.

Men's hoops downed at USF
The men's basketball team suffered a 55-37 loss to the South Florida Bulls Saturday night at the Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla. Manny Adako led NU with 10 points as the Huskies were limited to 24 percent shooting. The Huskies return home to face Rhode Island on Wednesday at Matthews Arena at 7 p.m.

Solomon Track/Cage renovations complete
Northeastern University's Solomon Indoor Track and Cabot Cage were recently renovated with a new indoor track surface surrounding an artificial turf infield. It gives Northeastern a top-quality indoor training facility that will benefit all sports. Work was done by Turner Construction and the renovated facility was opened to Husky student-athletes for training on Monday, Nov. 17.

Men's hockey falls to No. 7 Princeton
The men's hockey team fell into a two-goal deficit and never led as it took a 5-3 loss to No. 7 Princeton on Friday in the RPI Holiday Tournament. Ryan Ginand, Chris Donovan and Alex Tuckerman scored for the fourth-ranked Huskies. NU will play RPI at 7 p.m. in the consolation game on Saturday. The game will be broadcast on 890 ESPN Boston.

Huskies participate in CAA SAAC meeting
Senior Kris Dabrowiecki of the baseball team, freshman Michelle Sopko of the women's soccer team, Athletics Director Peter Roby and Assistant Director of Compliance & Student Athlete Welfare Kelly Scafariello recently represented Northeastern at the 2008 CAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) meeting in Wilmington, N.C. The committee established a new CAA student-athlete mission statement and a sportsmanship statement and discussed current issues.

Women's hockey loses to New Hampshire
The women's hockey team suffered a 2-0 loss to the No. 6 New Hampshire Wildcats Wednesday at UNH's Whittemore Center. The Wildcats outshot Northeastern 36 to 12, but Florence Schelling made 34 saves to keep the Huskies in the game until the final minutes of the third period. Northeastern is back in action Sunday at 2 p.m. when the Huskies take on Boston College at Conte Forum.
