Luke Carlin, who played for Northeastern from 2000-02, was called back up to the San Diego Padres on Saturday and hit his first Major League homer on Sunday. Carlin has played in 31 games for the Padres this season and collected 13 hits, 12 runs and six RBI while playing excellent defense at catcher. Quigley honored by Cape Cod League
Sophomore pitcher Ryan Quigley has been named the 2008 recipient of the John J. Claffey Outstanding New England Prospect Award, which is presented annually to a Cape Cod League player who makes his home in New England and/or plays for a college or university located in one of the six New England states. Quigley was 3-1 with a 3.67 ERA for the Harwich Mariners, who won the Eastern Division and will play in the best-of-three CCL Championship, which will take place Aug. 13-15.

Lyon begins pro career
After signing with the New York Yankees on June 9, following his draft selection, former Husky shortstop Mike Lyon made his debut with the Class-A Staten Island Yankees of the New York-Penn League on Tuesday. Through his first two games, Lyon is hitting .500 (4-8). There are currently nine former Huskies playing baseball professionally.

Tamsin, Lyon named ECAC All-Stars
Mike Tamsin and Mike Lyon were named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Stars Wednesday evening. Tamsin was named to the first team as a utility player, while Lyon was selected to the second team at shortstop. It was the third post-season honor for both players, as both were named first team All-New England and first team All-CAA in May.

Lyon drafted by Yankees
Husky shorstop and senior captain Mike Lyon was selected by the New York Yankees in the 24th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft on Friday. Lyon is the 29th Husky to be drafted to the Major Leagues. The Huskies have had 13 players drafted since 1998, when Carlos Pena became the first Husky ever to be drafted in the first round when the Rangers selected him with the 10th overall pick.
