NU (8-2) rallied from an early 3-0 deficit and took the lead on a sacrifice fly by Miguel Paquette that scored Omar Pena with the go-ahead run in the third inning. Tim O' Sullivan gave the visiting Pioneers (5-14-1) a quick 3-0 lead with a homer to right centerfield off Brendan Ryan in the top of the first. Ryan walked Kevin Ryan and then hit Greg Annino to set the stage for O'Sullivan's blast. Ryan settled down, however, allowing just four more hits as he pitched six strong innings before giving way to freshman Devin Monds who closed out the game.
The Huskies got on the board in the last of first as leadoff batter Brad Czarnowski tripled and came home on Pena's sacrifice fly. NU continued to cut into the C.W. Post lead with a run in the second inning. Freshman Colin Gaynor singled and sophomore Nick Graves drove him home with a double into left center.
NU rallied to take the lead in the third inning. Leadoff hitter Czarnowski was once again the catalyst, leading off with a single. Pena walked and catcher Luke Carlin then executed a perfect sacrifice bunt to advance the runners to second and third. Ben Beck bounced a grounder to third base and Pete Esposito tried to throw out Czarnowski at home, but he beat the throw. Paquette then flied to right, deep enough to allow Pena to tag and score.
It was NU's seventh straight win.
