After ORU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, the Huskies tied the game in the top of the fifth as Chris Emanuele delivered a two-out RBI single to score Mike Steinberg. Emanuele was 3-5 for the second straight day and finished the series 8-13 (.615).
The Golden Eagles answered with a pair of runs off NU starter Brendan Ryan in their half of the fifth. The hosts then added a run in the seventh before breaking it open with three runs in the eighth charged to reliever Matt Pileski. Kevin Lamb's two-run homer completed the ORU scoring.
The Huskies got two back in the top of the ninth, highlighted by an Emanuele RBI triple that scored Jeff Heriot, who had singled. Emanuele came home on Arman Sidhu's ground out. Reliever Dallas Martin fanned Omar Pena to end the game and earned his second save of the season.
Taylor McIntyre fanned nine batters in seven innings of work to earn the win for ORU. McIntyre (2-0), a freshman lefthander, scattered eight hits and allowed one unearned run, dropping his season ERA to 0.70 for the season.
NU returns to action on Wednesday for its home opener at Friedman Diamond against Holy Cross at 3 p.m.
