The Black Bears had taken an early lead in the bottom of the fifth inning when Joe Drapeau hit a solo home run to centerfield for a 1-0 edge. However, in the sixth, Tim Bush hit a two-RBI single with no outs to score two runs for a Husky 2-1 lead. Northeastern added to that lead in the following frame with a pair of RBI singles by Emanuele and fellow freshman Arman Sidhu.
With NU up 4-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, Maine's Aaron Young led off the inning with a single to left center. Drapeau followed with a single, and Greg Creek walked to load the bases. Pat Tobin singled through the right side to bring in Young with no outs for a 4-2 score, chasing NU starter Devin Monds. Bush relieved and retired two straight batters, bringing up Alain Picard. He reached on an error by first baseman Paul Kozlowski, scoring Pete Saunders who was pinch running for Creek, and Drapeau.
Bush eventually picked up the win, while Mike MacDonald took the loss for Maine. The Huskies improved to 7-12 overall and 2-3 in America East.

Mahaney Diamond (Orono, ME)Northeastern took the first game of a doubleheader with Maine, 6-4 in eight innings on Friday in Orono, Maine. Maine tied the game after an NU error, scoring two runs in a late seventh-inning rally. That sent the game into extra innings when Chris Emanuele hit a one-out, two-RBI double to right center to give Northeastern the lead for good.
