Stony Brook 5, Northeastern 1 (game 1)
Mike Russo got things started for Stony Brook when he scored Matt Devins with a single to left off NU starter Devin Monds to give the Seawolves an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Huskies responded with a run of their own in the top of the third when Jon Lewis walked Matt Morizio and Chris Emanuele to start the inning. Morizio would later score off of a Paul Koslowski single, tying the game 1-1.
The momentum shifted as the duo of Russo and Devins teamed up again to give Stony Brook a one-run advantage. Devins reached first after beating out a bunt down the third base line. Russo brought him home with a double down the left field line for a 2-1 advantage.
The Seawolves added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth. Cole Cicatelli advanced to second after an error and then Russo was intentionally walked which allowed Ed Kull to clear the bases with a double to right. Kull would later score himself thanks to a David Wood double to right. Kull finished the game 1-3 with two RBIs and Russo tallied two hits and two RBIs.
Lewis eaned the win, pitching all seven innings, striking out 11 and allowing just one run on four NU hits. Monds was charged with the loss, pitching six innings, striking out two and allowing all five runs.
