Huskies drop close one at Harvard, fall 4-3
Despite freshman Sheldon McDonald putting forth one of his strongest performances of the year, as he struck out six, walked only one and gave up three runs in five innings, he exited with the game tied and picked up the no-decision. Bobby Carrington suffered the loss after giving up a run in the sixth, and that was enough for the Crimson as they kept the Husky bats quiet from that point on.
The Huskies got on the board in the fourth inning when Brian Roberts scored Tony DiCesare on a sacrifice fly. In the fifth inning, Mike Tamsin, who was 2-3 on the day, smashed a solo homer to right, his fifth of the season, to temporarily give the Huskies a 2-1 lead. After Harvard picked up two more runs with an RBI-triple and a sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the inning, Brendan Stokes hit a pinch-hit, RBI-double that drove in DiCesare and tied up the game, but the Huskies were never able to recapture the lead.
The Huskies drop to 21-14 with the loss and the Crimson improve to an even 18-18. The Huskies will be back in action on Friday as they travel south to begin a pivotal three-game series with conference foe UNC Wilmington. Friday's game is at 7 p.m.
