Northeastern University head baseball coach Neil McPhee has announced his schedule for 2008 and it includes 19 home games at Friedman Diamond, the 19th annual Beanpot Tournament and the fifth annual exhibition with the 2007 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox.
The Huskies, who have had a winning record in 10 of the last 11 seasons including a 24-22 mark in 2007, will open the 2008 season with their contest against the Red Sox, who are currently playing for their second World Series title in the last four seasons. The game will take place on Thursday, Feb. 28 at the City of Palms Park in Fort Myers, Fla.
Following the exhibition, the Huskies will spend a week at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. where they will play Villanova, Bowling Green, Western Michigan and Indiana-Purdue at Fort Wayne.
When the Huskies return north, they will open their 30-game CAA schedule at Delaware March 14-16. The following weekend, March 21-23, the Huskies will play their home opener against George Mason.
Northeastern will also host CAA teams UNC Wilmington April 4-6, Towson April 18-20, Hofstra May 2-4 and James Madison May 15-17.
The Huskies will defend their 2007 Beanpot championship on April 16 against Boston College. NU defeated the Eagles, 2-0, in the title game last season. The winner of the game will play either Harvard or Massachusetts in the championship game on April 23 at Fenway Park.
Northeastern will look to make the CAA Tournament for the second time in three seasons. The six-team, double-elimination tournament will take place May 21-24 at Brooks Field in Wilmington, N.C.
