Huskies picked 3rd in preseason poll
A preseason CAA coaches poll has Northeastern slated to finish 3rd in the conference, behind traditional powerhouses James Madison and Old Dominion. Senior midfielder Ashley Bascetta will lead a talented Husky squad as they look to climb in the conference rankings.

Huskies add six recruits for 2008 season
Northeastern University field hockey coach Cheryl Murtagh has announced the team's incoming class for the 2008 season. The outstanding group is made up of forwards Carolyn Malloy and Sam Roach, midfielders Kaela Barker, Olivia Bass and Beth Cobby, and goalkeeper Lizzie Priest, who will all play for the Huskies next season.

Huskies announce 2008 schedule
Head Coach Cheryl Murtagh has announced the team's 2008 schedule. The Huskies will play five teams who qualified for the NCAA Tournament including Boston College, Boston University and Connecticut as well as CAA rivals James Madison and Old Dominion. The Huskies also host Massachusetts (Sept. 7) and Stanford (Oct. 4) at Sweeney Field. The team will look to qualify once again to the CAA Championships which will be held Nov. 5-8 in Virginia Beach, Va.

Wilk elected to NU Hall of Fame
Kelly Wilk-Carroll, Class of 1993, was inducted into Northeastern's Hall of Fame along with six others in formal ceremonies at Lombardo's Restaurant in Randolph, Mass., on April 18. Wilk amassed career totals of 59 goals and 133 points while at NU. Tickets to the induction ceremony can be purchased by calling George Makris at (617) 373-4821.

Eight Huskies named to Academic Squad
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced today that eight members of NU's field hockey team were named to the NFHCA Academic Squad. To qualify for the squad, a player must have a GPA of at least 3.0 during the season. Senior Stephanie Casper leads the way for the Huskies with her fifth consecutive appearance on the squad. Northeastern was also recognized for having a team GPA of above 3.0.

Bascetta and Hazelzet named All-Region
Ashley Bascetta and Suzanne Hazelzet have been named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region First Team. Both started in all 21 games for the Huskies and shared the team-lead with 13 points. Bascetta, who led the team with six goals, was also named to the All-CAA Second Team, while Hazelzet was named to the All-CAA First team and was recognized as CAA Defensive Player of the Year, the first Husky player to receive the award.

D'Ambra and Webber named All-Tournament
Senior midfielders Ashley D'Ambra and Ashley Webber were named to the Colonial Athletic Associations All-Tournament field hockey team, the league announced on Sunday. Both D'Ambra and Webber served as tri-captains for the Huskies this season, their last at Northeastern.
