Notes: Hilary McHugh recorded her second career hat trick and Heidi Benson had seven total points to lead the Husky offense to a statement 6-0 win against the Providence Friars. Benson's best play of the day was a diving tip-in of a Karrie Danilecki shot for the Huskies' second goal. The only thing striking more than the Northeastern offense in this game was the lightning around Boston. The conclusion of this Saturday evening match had to be postponed until Sunday when lightning forced an extended delay. The Friars were unable to solve a stingy Northeastern defense that allowed only two total shots. Early in the game, Providence's top forward Erica Herbert found an opening in the Northeastern circle and sent a pretty pass to teammate Mirandi Balg who was set up at point blank range. Balg redirected it swiftly, but freshman goaltender Kathleen Madaus was there for the big save as she has been all season long. Sophomore Jessica Gonynor played the last twenty minutes of the game to share the shutout with Madaus. The Huskies have shut out five of their last six opponents, including powerhouse Old Dominion last Sunday.
