Northeastern junior Krisanne Duchemin scored two goals, including the overtime winner, to lead the host Huskies over the Flying Dutchwomen of Hofstra by a final score of 2-1. NU dominated the field of play all night, outshooting Hofstra 44-5 with a penalty corner advantage of 19-2, including 6-1 in overtime. However, Hofstra's rookie goaltender Christine Hickey was outstanding in response, stopping 20 Husky shots short to keep the Dutchwomen in the game. Liz Strum had the only Hofstra goal of the game, with 17 minutes remaining in the second half, but 10 minutes later Sturm was stopped on a penalty stroke that could have sealed an upset win. Northeastern netminder Kathleen Madaus made the big save to set up overtime. |
