Northeastern finally got the curse of New Hampshire off its back, as the Huskies defeated the Wildcats 4-2 in the second America East semifinal game. It was the first win in four tries for Northeastern against UNH, satisfying retribution for an overtime loss in 1998's championship game. Senior Jackie Carl again provided the offensive spark for the Huskies, scoring twice and assisting on the game-winning goal. It was Scottish import Karen Jarvie's efforts on the attack that put NU into the title game, as the devout defender scored the last of three Husky goals in the first while setting up Carl's insurance goal early in the second. Senior midfielder Heidi Benson also recorded a three-point performance, but was lost due to an injury late in the game.
