| 2004 Schedule/Results Northeastern 6, New Hampshire 1
The Huskies romped to a 6-1 victory over New Hampshire on Sunday at Sweeney Field in their first America East game of the season. The Huskies improve to 8-2 and 1-0 in the conference while UNH falls to 1-7 and 0-1. "I'm happy for our team that they put in a good, solid performance," said Northeastern head coach Cheryl Murtagh. "We wanted to come out strong and put a lot of pressure on the ball defensively and I think everybody did that. UNH is a good passing team and hit the ball really well and we really took that away with our defense." The Husky offense was on fire, going off for 39 shots, including 27 shots on goal. NU also had 19 penalty corners to UNH's three. "It's nice to see some people stepping up and scoring and we had some great goals," said Murtagh. "I'd like to see a few more of those shots fall, but we're getting the shots off. I think we need to be a little meaner on some of our shots." The lethal corner combination of Liane Dixon to Alli Bolster to Mari Creatini connected three times for half of NU's goals on the day. Creatini's three goals brought her season total up to 10. The Huskies took a 1-0 lead 22:46 into the game. Ashley Webber took the ball in front of the net, getting UNH goalie Christine Buckley out of position, then passed it to Jay Quinn on the left side and Quinn netted the goal easily. That goal was followed by Creatini's three goals off of penalty corners. With NU leading 4-0, UNH's Caitlin Gillen netted one for the visitors. She got it by Husky goalie Diana Nelson from the right side. The Huskies added a pair of insurance goals late in the game. Webber netted her first of the season at 67:28 and Bolster netted her first of the season on a rocket shot at 68:45. UNH's Buckley had an incredible game in goal, making 19 saves. The Wildcat defense also had a pair of defensive saves. The Huskies return to Sweeney Field in their next game, taking on Brown on Tuesday at 3 p.m. UNH (1-7) vs. Goals by period 1 2 Tot
