The Huskies romped to a 7-0 America East victory over Albany on Saturday at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. Whitney Shean and Jay Quinn each had two goals in the win. Northeastern improves to 11-2 this season and 2-0 in America East play. The Huskies are now tied with Boston University for the America East lead, as the Terriers are also 2-0 in conference play. The Huskies got on the board when Shean scored an unassisted goal 23:09 into the first half. Four minutes later, Shean assisted on a Sarah Eckhoff goal at 27:13. That made it 2-0 in favor of Northeastern heading into halftime. The Huskies dominated the second half, putting the game out of reach for the Great Danes. Shean started off the scoring with an unassisted goal at 39:38. Quinn then scored on a penalty shot to put the Huskies up 4-0 with less than 20 minutes remaining. In the final stages, Liane Dixon scored and Quinn netted her second goal of the game. Mari Creatini scored after a penalty corner that took place after regulation ran out, making the final 7-0. Senior goalie Diana Nelson anchored the Husky defense to its fifth shutout of the season with five saves. Albany's Barbara Czaplinski made 10 saves and allowed six goals and Jessica Montmarquet allowed the final goal of the game as she played the final 3:28. The Huskies dominated, statistically, as they led the shots, 25-7, and led in penalty corners, 17-5. The Huskies held Albany to just one shot in the second half. Northeastern has a regional matchup on Wednesday as it plays perrenial power Connecticut in Storrs, Conn. at 7 p.m. The Huskies will be looking for their fifth-straight win.
