Senior co-captain Mari Creatini set the Northeastern all-time record for points with a second-half goal as the Huskies upended Vermont, 10-0, on Friday at Sweeney Field. With one goal in the game, Creatini totalled 154 for her career, eclipsing the record of 153 career points set by Keri Bettenhauser (1994-97). It shouldn't be over looked that senior co-captain Liane Dixon scored three goals in the game. "It's awesome for Mari, it's definitely something she has earned," said Husky head coach Cheryl Murtagh. "We've got a lot of other players scoring this year so I think that means even more. That's why Mari is scoring, because the other teams can't focus just on her." The 10th-ranked Huskies improve to 13-2 and 3-0 in America East games with the victory. Vermont falls to 2-12 and 1-2. "I was glad that our team is stepping up and maintaining a good level of hockey," said Murtagh. "I was happy that they came out strong after the big win over UConn. The passing was there and the defense was there. We scored some good field goals so we're not just relying on corners. The Huskies led 6-0 heading into halftime on three first-half goals by Dixon and scores by Jay Quinn, Whitney Shean and Sarah Eckhoff. Quinn scored the first goal of the game on a perfect pass from Shean in front of the Vermont goal 1:57 into the game. Dixon followed with a pair of unassisted goals at 9:36 and 17:29. Shean made it 4-0 when she knocked in the rebound of a Jay Quinn shot at 25:52. After a stalled penalty corner, Quinn made a cross-pass to Eckhoff, who buried it for her second goal of the season at 29:05. Dixon added another unassisted goal before the half was over, making it 6-0 at 32:40. The Huskies weren't done at halftime as they added four more goals in the second frame. Shean scored her second goal of the game at 47:51. Creatini then scored her record-breaking goal at 51:26 on a feed from Alli Bolster. Quinn scored her second goal of the game and freshman Michaela O'Malley scored before the game was over. The Husky defense stifled the Catamounts, allowing just five shots, all in the second half. NU took 27 shots in the game. Husky goalie Diana Nelson made one save before she was relieved at 53:54 by Elizabeth Centofanti. Redshirt freshman Meaghan Dorsi got her first collegiate action, playing the final 2:45. The Huskies have won six games in a row and look for their seventh-straight against UMBC on Sunday. The Huskies take on the Retrievers at Sweeney Field at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Vermont (2-12, 1-2) vs. Goals by period 1 2 Tot
