Liane Dixon fired the game-winning goal past Penn State goalie Megan Akstin 5:01 into overtime to lift the Huskies to a 1-0 victory over the Nittany Lions. It was the Huskies fourth-straight win to open the season 4-0.
Defense dominated the game as Northeastern got just 11 shots off in the game and the Husky defense limited Penn State to seven shots. NU goalie Diana Nelson made four saves for her second shutout of the season.
The goal was Dixon's second of the season and was unassisted. Penn State fell to 0-3 with the loss.
Northeastern hosts its first game of the season when it takes on Quinnipiac on Friday at 2 p.m.
