| 2004 Schedule/Results Northeastern 4, Quinnipiac 0
The Huskies continued their success with a 4-0 win over Quinnipiac in their home-opener on Friday at Sweeney Field. Liane Dixon scored three goals and the Husky defense dominated, holding the Bobcats to zero shots. The Huskies' 5-0 record marks just the second time since 1980 that NU has started the season with five-straight wins. NU started the 2002 season 6-0 before taking its first loss. Quinnipiac falls to 0-4, but Husky head coach Cheryl Murtagh said QU played better than its record. "I thought they played a good game against us," said Murtagh. "They didn't make it easy. I thought defensively in the first half we struggled and we need to step up strong against Holy Cross. They're a great team so we need to be ready for tomorrow." Creatini got the Huskies a 1-0 lead 16:25 into the game on a corner. Dixon inbounded the ball to Alli Bolster, who steadied it so Creatini could fire it home. It was Creatini's fourth goal of the season. Dixon then went on a tear, scoring the final three goals of the game. She got the ball from Creatini and fired a goal past Quinnipiac goalie Erin McKay from in front of the net at 26:24 to bring the score up to 2-0 at halftime. After the teams took the field for the second half, the game was played almost entirely in Quinnipiac territory and Dixon scored twice more. At 41:25, she took a lateral pass from Michaela O'Malley and netted a goal from the left side. At 53:22, Dixon took one home unassisted to bring the final to 4-0. Quinnipiac's McKay played a solid game, making eight saves. However, she couldn't keep the Huskies back as they peppered shots from all sides. The Husky defense dominated, keeping all zeros in the Bobcats' offensive categories. Coach Murtagh pulled senior goalie Diana Nelson late in the second half and got redshirt freshman Elizabeth Centofanti the first in-game action of her collegiate career. Northeastern hosts Holy Cross on Friday at 4 p.m. at Sweeney Field. Holy Cross brings a 4-0 record that includes wins over Yale and Providence College. The Crusaders matched up with Quinnipiac on Sept. 3, taking a 5-0 victory from the Bobcats. Quinnipiac (0-4) vs. Goals by period 1 2 Tot
