Whitney Shean and Sarah Eckhoff each scored a pair of goals as the Northeastern field hockey team earned a 5-1 victory over Delaware on Sunday in Newark, Del. The win is the tenth in a row for the Huskies and keeps NU undefeated in CAA play with a 3-0 league record. The Fightin' Blue Hens struck first when Katie Evans scored from just inside the circle in the 8th minute to give Delaware the early lead. The Huskies would take the lead later in the first half. Michaela O'Malley set up Shean in front of the net for the equalizer in the 23rd minute. Four minutes later, Stephanie Casper put the Huskies up 2-1 with the game-winning goal off a rebound. The Huskies added more insurance in the second half. NU capitalized off a penalty corner in the 46th minute when Shean and Natalie Singelais set up Eckhoff to take a 3-1 lead. Eckhoff struck again in the 57th minute, sending a shot into the net off a rebound for her fourth goal of the season. Shean capped off the scoring with her league-leading 12th goal of the season in the final minute of the contest to give the Huskies the 5-1 win. The Huskies, boasting the highest-scoring offense in the CAA and second-highest in the nation, outshot the Fightin' Blue Hens 24-6 in the game. NU goalkeeper Colleen Duffy made three saves while Hens keeper Megan Allen made ten saves in defeat. NU returns to action on Wednesday when they host Harvard at Sweeney Field in a non-conference matchup at 4 p.m.
