The Northeastern field hockey team scored three goals in five minutes on the way to a 4-1 victory over Massachusetts on Friday night in Amherst.
Jay Quinn struck first for the Huskies, scoring for the second time in as many games at 15:21. Less than three minutes later at 18:05, Sarah Eckhoff scored the eventual game-winner off a pass from Lauren Edelmeier soon after a penalty corner to give NU the 2-0 lead. The Huskies put a third tally on the board when Rachel Wilkes scored the first goal of her collegiate career at 20:50.
The Minutewomen got their only goal of the night early in the second half when Jaime Bawden set up Patricia Borneo at 38:49 to cut the Husky lead to 3-1.
Edelmeier gave NU some insurance at 52:02 when she found the back of the net off a penalty corner, scoring with assists from Natalie Singelais and Whitney Shean.
Goalkeeper Liz Centofanti turned in the best effort of her collegiate career, making six saves and allowing only one goal.
The Huskies are in action again Sunday when they visit Providence at 1 p.m. Northeastern returns to Sweeney Field on Fri., Sept. 16 to face cross-town rivals Boston University at 2:30 p.m.
