Whitney Shean scored two goals for the Huskies as the Northeastern field hockey team won its third game in a row, defeating Holy Cross 6-3 on Saturday in Worcester.
NU struck first when Shean and Natalie Singelais set up Lauren Edelmeier for a goal off a penalty corner at 8:15. It was Edelmeier's team-leading fifth goal of the year. The Crusaders didn't let that lead last long, though, as Jenna Cook scored unassisted less than a minute later.
The Huskies regained the lead once more at 14:35, when Ashley Webber scored her fourth of the year unassisted. Shean gave NU a 3-1 lead when she found the back of the net at 24:24. Once again, though, the Crusaders answered less then a minute later when Carolyn Connelly scored off a pass from Jenna Cook to bring the NU lead down to 3-2.
The Huskies got their eventual game-winner at 44:11. Jay Quinn's shot deflected off a Holy Cross stick and got by Crusader keeper Sony Kuhn to give the Huskies a 4-2 lead.
Shean scored again at 55:25, her fourth goal in the last two games. Quinn provided some insurance with a tally at 60:17 to give NU the 6-2 lead. The Crusaders were able to get one more back at 65:41 when Jenna Cook set up Kristin Schulz, but it wasn't enough as the Huskies held on for the victory.
The Huskies take the field again when they return home to face cross-town rivals Boston University at Sweeney Field on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
