On Wednesday the field hockey team was defeated by the Harvard Crimson at Sweeney Field 2-0. Chloe Keating recorded three points in the game for Harvard.

In the first half, both teams were evenly matched and neither could generate many scoring opportunities. Northeastern and Harvard were also awared two penalty corners apiece, and the Huskies held a slight 4-2 shooting advantage. The half ended in a scoreless tie.

The start of the second half saw more of the same. The Huskies and Crimson remained scoreless and continued to impress defensively. In one play, Harvard's Kayla Romanelli, who had gained possession of the ball, was overtaken by Northeastern's Ashley D'Ambra who was able to steal the ball away from Romanelli and give Northeastern possession. D'Ambra followed up the play with another take, this time from Leigh McCoy who was heading into the Huskies' defensive zone. Another great play from Montana Hewlett and Jillian Wilkes thwarted an exceptional scoring chance for the Crimson, as Maggie McVeigh was close to a breakaway. Meanwhile, Crimson goaltender Kylie Stone made five stops for Harvard.

The winning goal came for Harvard at 56:49 as Chloe Keating notched her first collegiate goal off a hard shot that landed in the lower left hand corner of the cage. Keating was assisted by Elizabeth Goodman-Bacon, who earned her first assist of the 2007-08 campaign.

Harvard added another tally after it was awarded a penalty corner late in the second half. Devon Shapiro rifled a shot that bounced off Chloe Keating and deflected into the net by Kristen Bannon, her third of the season. Keating recorded the assist, giving her three points on the afternoon.

The Huskies were awarded three penalty corners in the second half and created scoring opportunities but were unable to convert any. With the loss, the Hukies drop to 4-7 on the season, and 18-9 all-time against Harvard.

Northeastern returnd to action this Friday as it hosts CAA opponent, No. 18 Delaware at Sweeney Field at 2 p.m.
