On Saturday, the field hockey team was defeated by Boston College by a score of 3-1. Junior Bob Dirks scored two goals in the contest for the Eagles, including the game-winner.
The Huskies were the first to score, as Stephanie Casper notched her third goal of the season off a penalty corner in the first half. Ashley Webber earned the assist on the play.
Minutes later, the Eagles were awarded their own penalty corner, which Caitlin Young converted into the game-tying goal. Kathleen Murphy earned her first of two assists on the day as Katie Quaglia also registered an assits on the Young's goal.
Before the end of the first half, the Eagles would score again. Dirks recorded an unassisted goal, her 10th of the season and 40th of her collegiate career, giving the Eagles a 2-1 lead that they would not relinquish.
Later in the second half, Dirks scored an insurance goal for BC off Murphy's second assist.
The Huskies did make an offensive push late, spending the majority of remaining time down near the Eagles net but were unable to find any net and left with the loss.
The team resumes action on Friday as they travel to Drexel for a CAA match up at 7 p.m.
