| 2008 Schedule/Results Malloy named Co-Rookie of the Week
Malloy earned the title with her standout performance in Northeastern’s 3-0 victory over Northwestern Saturday at Sweeney Field. In her first collegiate game, Malloy started and played the majority of the contest at forward, where she played a large role in the Husky offense. She tallied four shots on the day, and scored her first collegiate goal early in the second half. Malloy was an available target for her teammates and helped generate scoring opportunities for others.
Malloy comes to Northeastern from Salem High School, where she played four season of field hockey. She was a three-time team MVP, three-time team scoring leader, and holds the school’s single-season goal-scoring record, with 30. Salem won three consecutive state championships during Malloy’s four years. In 2007, she was named a National Field Hockey Association All-American, New Hampshire Field Hockey Coaches Association Field Hockey Player of the Year, New Hampshire Union Leader All-State and Player of the Year, Eagle Tribune 2006-07 All-State and 2007 Most Valuable Player, and Varsity Magazine 2007 Top Field Hockey Player.
Kovar scored Hofstra’s only goal in regulation time in a 2-1 overtime victory over Rider August 31.
Malloy and the Huskies take on Providence Thursday at 3 p.m., and host Massachusetts Sunday at 2 p.m. Both games are at Sweeney Field, and will have live web video on GoNU.tv.
