The Huskies go for three straight victories Saturday when they host No. 13/11 Massachusetts at Parsons Field at 12 p.m. Northeastern is coming off a 35-17 win at Towson last Saturday to start 1-0 in CAA Football. UMass is coming off a 17-7 win over No. 16/14 Delaware to improve to 1-1 in the conference. Saturday's game will broadcast live on 890 ESPN Boston and WRBB Radio. See the Huskies play at Maine
Northeastern is sponsoring a bus trip to see the men's hockey team play Maine at Alfond Arena on Friday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. followed by the football team's 12 p.m. game against the Black Bears at Alfond Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 25. Tickets for the bus are $40 and come with a free ticket to the football game. A hotel room is $100 and a hockey ticket is $20. NU students get into the hockey game for free. Hager on CAA Coaches Teleconference
Huskies fans can listen to head coach Rocky Hager each Monday in the CAA Coaches Teleconference. Hager will take questions on the previous week's game and the upcoming game. This week, Hager discussed last week's win at Towson, this week's matchup with Massachusetts and the emergence of senior tailback Alex Broomfield.

Orio a semifinalist for Draddy Trophy
Senior quarterback Anthony Orio has been named a semifinalist for the Draddy Trophy, given out to the nation's best and brightest student-athlete on the football field. Candidates for the award must have a strong GPA, make significant contributions on the field, and demonstrate leadership and good citizenship. Orio, who graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Biochemistry, is Northeastern's leading passer this season. 15 finalists for the award will be named on Oct. 29.

Huskies top Towson in CAA Football opener
The Huskies scored 28 unanswered points to overcome a 10-point deficit and defeat the Towson Tigers 35-17 Saturday at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md. Chris Plum had a career-high 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Alex Broomfield rushed for 102 yards and a score. Anthony Orio threw for 238 yards and two TDs while John Sperrazza connected with Rob Theoudele on a 37-yard TD pass. The Huskies won their CAA Football opener and host Massachusetts next Saturday at 12 p.m. The game will be televised on Comcast SportsNet.

Thellen wins Gold Helmet Award
Sophomore free safety Nate Thellen has been named this week's recipient of the Boston Globe Gold Helmet Award, the New England Football Writers announced at its weekly luncheon Wednesday. He also picked up another accolade when he was named ECAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Last Saturday in Northeastern's 27-10 win over UC Davis, Thellen made three interceptions and returned one of them 92 yards for a touchdown. Thellen and the Huskies open CAA Football play at Towson Saturday at 12 p.m.

Thellen honored by CAA Football, Sports Network
Sophomore free safety Nate Thellen has been named the CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week and the Sports Network National Defensive Player of the Week. Thellen had three interceptions in Northeastern's 27-10 win over UC Davis last Saturday. Thellen returned one of the interceptions 92 yards for a touchdown. The three interceptions are tied for second-most in Northeastern single-game history. Thellen was also named one of this week's Boston Herald "Herald Heroes."

Defense leads Huskies to 27-10 win vs. UC Davis
Nate Thellen had three interceptions and returned one 92 yards for a touchdown as the Huskies forced six turnovers to defeat UC Davis 27-10 Saturday at a rainy Parsons Field. Jason Vega had two sacks and an interception while Wil Colon had two sacks and forced a fumble. Alex Broomfield rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown and threw a TD pass to Brian Mandeville. The Huskies play at Towson next Saturday at 12 p.m. The game will broadcast on television on Comcast SportsNet.

Huskies lose 30-21 at Syracuse
The Huskies played a competitve game with Football Bowl Subdivision member Syracuse, but ultimately fell short 30-21 Saturday at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. The Huskies got touchdowns from Greg Abelli, Chris Plum and Alex Broomfield in the defeat. Quarterback Anthony Orio threw for a career-high 293 yards.
