2007: Was the leader on defense for the Huskies...one of three team captains...started all 11 games at inside linebacker...led the team in tackles with a career-best 90...also made 3.5 sacks...named third team All-CAA Football...recorded seven tackles at Northwestern (Sept. 1)...had five tackles, including one for a loss, versus Richmond (Sept. 8)...got his first sack of the season at Massachusetts (Oct. 20)....had a career-high 16 tackles, 10 solo, vs. Maine (Oct. 27)...recored two sacks for 11 yards lost and seven solo tackles against Hofstra (Nov. 10)...made a career-high 17 tackles, nine solo, and recorded half a sack against Rhode Island (Nov. 17).
2006: Started all 11 games and ranked second on the team in total tackles (61)...made five solo tackles versus Holy Cross (Sept. 9)...recorded six stops (five solo) at North Dakota State (Sept. 16)... also made six tackles at James Madison (Sept. 23)...led the team with eight total tackles and a sack at Richmond (Sept. 30)...turned in eight total tackles with a sack and pass breakup in victory over New Hampshire (Oct. 21)...logged 15 tackles over two weeks versus Massachusetts (Oct. 28) and Maine (Nov. 4), making 2.5 tackles for loss...made eight stops in victory over New Hampshire (Oct. 21), as well as at Maine (Nov. 4)...named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic team.
2005: Helped replenish the void left in the linebacker position following the departure of Liam Ezekiel...finished second on the team in tackles (76) and sacks (three), despite being hampered by injuries for much of the season...named to the All-Atlantic 10 third team...picked up 11 total tackles in both the Georgia Southern and Youngstown State contests...also recorded sacks in both games...registered nine tackles against Hofstra...finished the year with 10 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble at Rhode Island.
Before NU: Spent two seasons at the University of Illinois, including a redshirt year in 2003, when he was named scout team Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Year...appeared in 10 games in 2004, recording 28 total tackles (14 solo)...also recorded two quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery...played four years of football as a linebacker and tight end at Manasquan High School...named All-State as a senior...named Monmouth County Defensive Player of the Year and was a two-time All-County selection...three-year starter who made more then 300 career tackles...helped Manasquan to four consecutive state titles...caught 12 passes for 160 yards as a tight end.
Personal: Born May 2, 1985...majoring in History...father, Joe, was a running back on Rutgers’ 1976 team that went undefeated and finished the season ranked 17th in the country...hopes to attend law school following his playing career...enjoys surfing and reading...Class of 2008.
