Boston, MA

Northeastern University senior captain Maurice Murray (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) and junior Brian Mandeville (Walpole, Mass.) have been named to the 2007 New England Football Writers Football Championship Subdivision All-Star Team. They will be honored at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thu., Dec. 13, 2007 at Casa Di Fior in Wilmington, Mass.

Murray, also an All-CAA Football first team honoree, rushed for 1,421 yards on 302 carries to lead the Husky offense. His 1,421 yards ranked third in CAA Football, second in Northeastern single-season history and 11th in the country. His 14 rushing touchdowns is tied for the most by a Husky player in a single season. He had six 100-yard rushing games this season, including a 206-yard effort in the Huskies’ 31-13 upset over then-No. 8 New Hampshire. His 55 carries in that game is both a Northeastern and CAA Football record and is one shy of the Football Championship Subdivision record. For his career, Murray rushed for 3,806 yards and scored 43 touchdowns, which both rank first in Northeastern history.

Mandeville was also named second team All-CAA. He had 30 catches for a team-high 411 yards and scored five touchdowns to lead all Husky receivers. His breakout performance came on Oct. 6 at home against James Madison when he caught two touchdown passes and had 52 yards. The following week at Delaware, he caught a 76-yard touchdown pass, the season-long for the Huskies. Against Hofstra on Nov. 10, he caught two more TD passes, including the game-winning score with 17 seconds remaining in a 35-31 victory.

The All-New England team, which represents 11 schools, features 20 seniors, nine juniors and one sophomore. Four conferences are represented, with CAA Football supplying 14, the Ivy League 12, the Patriot League three and Northeast Conference one.
