Baseball looks to even series at W&M
The baseball team tries to even up its three game series against William & Mary tonight at Plumeri Park in Williamsburg, Va. The Huskies took a disappointing 7-5 loss to the Tribe last night. With three hits in last night's game, Mike Tamsin raised his team-best average to .384 on the season. Jeff Thomson will be on the mound for the Huskies on Friday. First pitch is at 7 p.m.

Baseball loses heartbreaker at W&M
The baseball team led through the first seven innings of the game, but an eighth inning rally by William & Mary left the Huskies with a 7-5 loss at Plumeri Park in Williamsburg, Va. on Thursday night. Kris Dabrowiecki gave the Huskies a strong start in his return to the starting rotation, but Sheldon McDonald took the loss in relief, dropping him to 9-2. Mike Tamsin went 3-5 with his second homer of the year to pace the Husky offense.

Grinold makes major gift to NU
Jack Grinold, Northeastern’s Associate Director of Athletics and longtime Sports Information Director, has donated $1 million to benefit athletics. His gift provides future endowed support to the operations of the program and is the largest contribution to athletics ever made by a university staff member. Grinold is in the College Sports Information Directors of America Hall of Fame and has attended every Northeastern football game, home and away, since 1962.

Pesanello sets HR record in win
Frank Pesanello set a new NU single-season home run mark with his 16th home run of 2008 and the baseball team defeated the Massachusetts 6-4 in Amherst on Tuesday. The homer was a three-run shot that broke a 3-3 tie in the eighth and was the eventual game-winner. Mike Tamsin stayed hot for the Huskies, going 4-5, while Josh Porter went 2-4 with a homer and two RBI. Dan Zehr picked up the win in relief for NU.

Women's crew tops Columbia in Woodbury Cup
The women's crew team topped Columbia in the Woodbury Cup on Orchard Beach Lagoon in Pelham, N.Y. on Sunday. NU finished at 6:57.4, 10 seconds ahead of Columbia (7:07.4). The second varsity eight, varsity four and novice four also won their races. Northeastern will next participate in the Eastern Sprints on Sun., May 18 in Camden, N.J.

Shaw sets hurdles record at Mason
The women's track team competed in the Patriot Open Invitational at George Mason on Saturday. The top Northeastern performance was Tramaine Shaw's NU-record time of 13.67 into a slight headwind while placing second in the 100-meter hurdles. That eclipsed her record of 13.71 set last season. Katherine Sherman won the high jump and took fifth in the 400 hurdles and Nancy Rowe won the javelin. Northeastern competes in the ECAC Championship at Princeton May 16-18.

Men's track competes at GMU
The men's track team got a win from Dan Anderson in the pole vault at the Patriot Open Invitational on Saturday in Fairfax, Va. Anderson cleared 15'3. Jonathan Hall took second in the 400 hurdles in 53.42 and Andrew Staples placed third in the high jump, clearing 6'6.75. Northeastern next competes in the IC4A Championship at Princeton May 16-18.
