The Huskies went into the 2007-08 season with a lot of uncertainty, having lost three starters and three of their top four scorers. Faced with a difficult schedule and having a roster with five freshmen and five sophomores, the Huskies persevered and battled their way to a 14-17 record, 9-9 in the competitive Colonial Athletic Association. Led by head coach Bill Coen and his captains Matt Janning and Mark Washington, the Huskies have put the CAA on notice that they will be tough to play for the foreseeable future.

Washington recognized by NSCA
Senior Mark Washington was recognized as one of the 2008 All-American Strength and Conditioning Athletes of the Year by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. The program recognizes those athletes whose accomplishments reflect their dedication to strength and conditioning. Washington, who was co-captain of the Huskies, finished his NU career with 106 games played, 142 points and 190 rebounds.
Murphy honored by the NABC
Associate head coach Thomas Murphy has been given the 2008 National Association of Basketball Coaches' Outstanding Service Award for his achievements at Hamilton College, a Division III school in Clinton, N.Y. Murphy, who is in his second season at Northeastern, was the head coach at Hamilton from 1970-2004 and was also the school's athletics director for 23 years. Murphy was honored at the NABC's convention in San Antonio, Texas on April 5.

Huskies lose to Mason in CAA quarters
The Huskies' season came to an end Saturday night as the Huskies dropped a 63-52 decision to George Mason in the CAA Tournament quarterfinals. The Huskies had four players score in double figures, led by junior Eugene Spates and freshman Chaisson Allen with 11 points. The Huskies end their season at 14-17 with a 9-9 CAA mark. NU is one of only four teams in the CAA to have a .500 or better conference record in each of the last three seasons.

Huskies beat JMU, advance to CAA quarterfinals
Northeastern beat James Madison 73-55 in the first round of the CAA Tournament on Friday in Richmond, Va. Sophomore captain Matt Janning scored 13 points and added four rebounds and three assists while Manny Adako pitched in 12 points and five rebounds.

Freshman Chaisson Allen was featured in Friday's Boston Globe and Boston Herald in the newspapers' CAA Tournament previews. The Globe's story focuses on how Allen came to Northeastern while the Herald's story chronicles Allen's growth and new-found experience through the course of his first season.
