Northeastern 92, La Salle 85
In the opening round of the Lobo Classic, hosted by the University of New Mexico on Friday Nov. 27, the Huskies knocked off Atlantic-10 La Salle 92-85 in overtime. NU placed five players in double figures, led by Marcus Blossom's 25 points. Junior guard Terry Kringe connected on 5-5 from behind the arc for a season high 19 points. Both Blossom and Changa Adams recorded double-doubles as Blossom had 10 rebounds to go along with his 25 points and Adams had career highs of 10 points and 10 boards. It was a tight game throughout, but with 10 seconds remaining in regulation Kringe went to the line with a chance to ice the game. He hit one of two free throws for a 72-69 NU lead. But Julian Blanks nailed an NBA three to tie the game as time expired. In the OT, Northeastern scored the first eight points and never looked back. The key in the extra session was the Huskies free throw shooting, as NU shot 16-20 from the line in OT (24-30 for the game). The win advances the Huskies to the finals where they will play host New Mexico.
