NU played at Vermont in the regular season finale with sixth place on the line. The Catamounts led the entire game, on their way to a 78-69 win. UVM started quickly, building a 24-10 lead. But Jean Bain and Kareen Harris sparked an NU rally. Bain scored eight, while Harris added five, as the Huskies came within two points, 33-31, before the Cats scored the final three of the half to lead 36-31 after one. Vermont began the second half much like the first, building a 12-point lead, 54-42, with 9:26 remaining. Bain hit a three at 4:36, and then Harold Miller hit another three, and two free throws, to bring the Huskies within four, 69-65. But UVM guard David Roach hit a three-pointer as the shot clock expired, for a 72-65 advantage. The Huskies didn't quit, as Bain and Harris each made two free throws, but UVM then iced the win by making six of six free throws down the stretch. Harris led the Huskies with a career-high 16 points, while Jean Bain recovered from a zero-point effort against Hartford with 15 points, seven assists, two steals and zero turnovers against the Cats. Tony Orciari led five Vermont players in double-figures with 25 points.
