Junior Matt Janning scored 30 points and junior Manny Adako was a perfect 10-for-10 in field goals, scoring 23 points as the Northeastern men's basketball team cruised to an 87-73 win over McGill University Monday night in Montreal, Quebec.
The win improves NU's record to 4-1 on its seven-game exhibition tour of Canada.
The Huskies survived McGill's early first quarter run that featured 20 points from senior Moustafa El Zanaty. The Redmen led the Huskies 25-20 after the first quarter.
Northeastern turned on the offense from there as Janning and Adako went to work. In the first half alone, Adako was 8-for-8 from the field with 19 points. The Huskies went into halftime with a 45-38 lead and then built it to a comfortable double digits in the third quarter.
The Huskies also got strong contributions from senior Eugene Spates, who had 12 points on four three-pointers, senior Chris Alvarez, who had seven rebounds, and sophomore Chaisson Allen, who had nine points, five assists and five steals, all without committing a turnover.
NU had great shooting numbers all night, shooting 48 percent from the floor and 86 percent from the free throw line.
Northeastern next plays Laval University on Tuesday in Quebec City at 7 p.m.
