Sophomore Jose Juan Barea was named to the NABC Division I All-District 1 Second Team, the National Association of Basketball Coaches announced last week.
It was the first time in Barea's career he was named to the squad.
Barea, a 6'0 point guard from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, is averaging 20.5 points per game, second highest in America East, and a conference-best 6.0 assists per game for the Huskies. He is second in the league in three-point shooting percentage (34.3) and third in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.06).
Two other America East players were recognized by the NABC. Vermont's Taylor Coppenrath was named first-team all-district and Boston University's Chaz Carr earned a spot on the second team.
Northeastern (17-10, 11-5) can wrap up the third seed in the America East tournament with a win over Maine on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.
