Jose Juan Barea and Bennet Davis were named America East Player of the Week and Co-Rookie of the Week, respectively, the conference office announced Monday, March 1.

Barea wins the award for the third time, while this is the second time Davis has earned this distinction.

Barea averaged 28.5 ppg while shooting 53 percent (18-of-34) from the field in leading Northeastern to a 2-0 week, which included a 99-89 win over Maine and an 80-62 victory over Albany.

Against the Black Bears, he scored 32 points – one short of his season high – on 10-of-22 shooting, including 7-of-11 from three-point range. The seven threes tied a career high. He also added five assists, three rebounds and three steals.

He followed that up by scoring 25 points, including the 1,000th of his career, in just 26 minutes against the Great Danes. Barea was 8-for-12 from the field in that game.

Davis averaged 14.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg last week. He scored 17 points – one short of his career high – and pulled down seven rebounds. Davis shot 6-of-9 from the floor, and added two blocked shots and a steal.

Versus the Great Danes, Davis had 11 points, five rebounds, two steals and a block. He missed just one of his five field-goal attempts in that game. For the week, he shot 71 percent (10-of-14) from the field.

Barea and Davis will try to lead the third-seeded Huskies (19-10, 13-5) past No. 6 Hartford in their America East quarterfinals matchup Saturday, March 6 at approximately 8:30 p.m.
