Barea named SI.com honorable mention All-America

Junior guard Jose Juan Barea was named an honorable mention All-America by SI.com, the Web site announced Thursday, March 10.

Barea currently sits fourth in the country in assists and ranks eighth in scoring. He was recently named to the 2005 Choice Hotels International America East Championship All-Tournament Team, averaging 25.0 points and 8.0 assists in Northeastern's three games.

Barea was one of two America East players honored by SI.com. The other was Vermont's Taylor Coppenrath.

Northeastern (21-9) makes its first-ever appearance in the National Invitation Tournament on Wednesday, March 16, when it visits Memphis at 8 p.m. EST.
