Northeastern Barea shines at Global Games

Barea shines at Global Games

Junior point guard Jose Juan Barea was one of the standouts at the recently completed Coca-Cola Global Games, leading his team to the bronze medal game and finishing with the highest scoring average in the tournament.

Barea, playing for his home country of Puerto Rico, averaged 28.5 points per game in four games, including a high of 35 in the bronze medal game, in which Puerto Rico lost to the United States in overtime, 108-107.

For the tournament, Barea shot 42.4 percent (36-for-85) from the floor, 43.6 percent (17-for-39) from behind the arc and 78.1 percent (25-for-32) from the free throw line. He averaged 4.0 assists and 3.8 rebounds.

All of the games were played at Moody Coliseum on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
