Freshman forward Shawn James was named America East Co-Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Monday, Jan. 3. The award includes all games played since Dec. 20.

James averaged 10.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 6.3 blocks and 1.8 steals a game in Northeastern's four games over that time, during which the Huskies sported a 3-1 record. He also shot 63 percent (15-for-24) from the floor and 100 percent (11-for-11) from the line.

His breakout game came in his first career start Dec. 30 against Iona, when he recorded the Huskies' first-ever triple-double, with 17 points, 12 rebounds and a school-record 11 blocks.

In his previous game, against Holy Cross, James scored a career-high 20 points. He made all 10 of his foul shots in that game, tying him for the fifth-best free throw shooting performance in school history. The game before that, he pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds in a win over Stony Brook.

James also shared rookie of the week honors Nov. 29.

For the season, James is averaging 9.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and an NCAA-leading 5.4 blocks a game.

Northeastern (6-5, 2-0 America East) hosts Vermont on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m.
