The men's crew varsity boat opened with a three-seat lead at the settle and never looked back, defeating Brown in the 41st rowing of the Dreissigaker Cup Saturday afternoon on the Seekonk River in Providence, R.I.
NU built up its three-seat lead at the settle, increased it to six seats after 500 and made it an eight-seat lead at 1500, leading to the win.
NU finished at 5:41.3 while Brown came in at 5:43.5.
The Huskies are at 2-0 this season and lead the series with Brown, 21-20.
The second varsity boat won its race, 5:46.5 to 5:55.8 while the freshman boat lost 5:48.9 to 5:50.6.
Northeastern will row in the Congram Cup next Sunday, April 24, against Rutgers on the Raritan River in Piscataway, N.J. The varsity boat is scheduled to row at 8 a.m.
