The Northeastern men's crew team entered this year's Eastern Sprints as the fifth seed, but were able to leave with the fourth best time. With a strong finishing time of 5:47.1, the Huskies finished less than a second behind third-place Brown, who had finished more than six seconds ahead of them earlier this season.
In their morning heat, the Huskies finished second with a time of 6:11.5, about a half-length behind Brown (6:09.9). In the Grand Final, NU's time of 5:47.1 was bested only by National power-houses Princeton (5:41.6) and Harvard (5:44.0), and Brown (5:46.2). The Huskies also finished ahead of Wisconsin (5:49.3), who was ranked three spots ahead of NU in the most recent US Rowing Collegiate Poll.
NU's strong finish in the Sprints also helped them secure third place with 30 points in this year's final Row Cup standings, finishing behind only Harvard (37 points) and Princeton (31 points).
The second varsity boats also reached the Grand Final. The second varsity finished fifth with a time of 6:42.4 and the freshman boat finished an impressive second with a time of 6:04.5.
