Huskies Row in Windemere Classic

The men’s crew opened the 2006 rowing season by going head-to-head with three of the strongest boats in North America at the Windemere Collegiate Crew Classic at Redwood Shores, CA.

The Huskies lost to the University of British Columbia on Saturday morning by a half-length as UBC finished at 6:34.5 to NU’s 6:36.7. UBC features four rowers from Canada’s national eight.

In the early afternoon they faced Washington, who finished fourth in last year’s IRA and lost by a length in 6:11.8 to 6:15.5.

On Sunday, they challenged the bronze from the 2005 IRA, California, and trailed by two lengths at California’s 5:41.4 to NU’s 5:49.1.

In second varsity competition, NU defeated the Santa Clara varsity and Washington second varsity, while bowing to CAL’s second varsity.
