Men's Crew finished third in the final heat of the varsity eight race at the Eastern Sprints Sunday, finishing behind third and fourth-ranked Brown and Princeton. The Huskies failed to make the Grand Final for only the second time in seven years.
Brown took a slight head start and had a small lead by the first 500. The Bears coasted to victory at 5:35.4, with Princeton finishing at 5:39.9 and NU at 5:42.2. Pennsylvania, George Washington and Holy Cross finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
The freshmen eight defeated Yale, Cornell, Navy, Rutgers and Dartmouth in the third heat of the freshman eight race with a time of 5:45.4. Starting at third place by the settle, NU pulled even by the first 500, and took the lead by the second 500.
The second varsity eight took third in the second heat of the varsity eight race, finishing behind Wisconsin and Cornell.
The final race of the day for the Huskies was the varsity eight Petite Final, in which NU finished fourth behind Cornell, BU and Pennsylvania.
The Huskies will get back to business Saturday, when they return to the Charles to take on Pennsylvania in the Burk Cup.
