John Lindberg joined the Husky men’s crew staff before the 2005 season and brings over 15 years of teaching, coaching and administrative experience at the secondary school level. Lindberg has coached both boys’ and girls’ championship crews at the high school level and many of his athletes have gone on to successful collegiate careers.

During the 2006 season under Lindberg, the first freshman eight won silver and the second freshman eight won gold at the Eastern Sprints. It was the highest placing by the freshman boat in 15 years.

Lindberg was first introduced to the sport as a student at St. Paul’s School in Concord, N.H., where he was fortunate to learn from master coach Rich Davis. One of the highlights was being a member of the St. Paul’s eight that won the Princess Elizabeth Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta in 1980.

He continued rowing at Brown University during current California coach Steve Gladstone’s tenure there. He represented the U.S. in the double sculls event at the 1991 Pan Am Games and continues to compete in masters sculling events.

Lindberg has also served as a business and project manager in the construction management field. Lindberg resides in Acton with his wife of 18 years, Maria, along with their two young boys, Kurt and Carl.
