The Northeastern men’s rowing team posted an impressive performance at last weekends 43rd annual Head of the Charles Regatta, finishing alongside some of the top programs in the country.
The Huskies started off strong with a 10th place finish in the Club eights race on Saturday. The race featured 69 crews, including several international competitors.
On Sunday, Northeastern competed in the Championship fours and eights, with both boats putting together strong showings. The Huskies Championship four was on pace to finish in the top five of 18 entries, but a collision with another boat forced Northeastern to take a one minute penalty for not yielding the right of way. The boat finished 16th overall.
The Huskies had their best finish in the Championship eights, as they finished in sixth place with a time of 14:43.172. Northeastern finished the race of 44 ahead of national powerhouses Yale, Brown and Harvard.
Northeastern alumni also competed under the Huntington Barge & Paddle name in the Regatta, coming in 15th in the Senior-Master eights and 16th in the Senior-Master fours.
The Huskies return to the water on Nov. 17 for the Foot of the Charles Regatta. Northeastern will take on Harvard, Boston University and Brown in the regatta.
