Northeastern men's rowing accepting walk-on candidates
July 2007
Boston, MA

The Northeastern University men’s rowing team is now inviting prospects to walk-on to the team this fall. No rowing experience is required. Ideal walk-on rowing prospects will be at least 6’2 and 175 pounds with an athletic build. Ideal coxswain candidates are an athletic male or female and around 125 pounds or less within a normal dietary routine.

Previous competitive athletic experience is necessary. Those that have competed successfully in high school sports tend to adapt well to the systematic training and teamwork necessary in the sport of rowing.

Practice typically runs from 5-7:30 p.m. Classes should be scheduled to conclude by 4:30 p.m. during the Fall semester.

Invited walk-ons can expect to compete in several races this fall, a chance to be invited to the winter training trip in Cocoa Beach, Fla., Dec. 30-Jan. 7, and compete in the spring intercollegiate racing season leading towards the Eastern Sprints and National Championship in May.

The goal of the Northeastern men’s rowing team is to win the Eastern Sprints and national championship. It is not a participatory process, but rather a process that rewards unyielding focus on excellence, acts of courage and shared sacrifice.

Interested Candidates should contact coach John Pojednic at j.pojednic@neu.edu or (617) 782-1933.
