St. Cloud State had a late, second period outburst in which they scored two goals within thirty seconds to give them a win over Northeastern, 4-1.
With his team on the power-play, Ryan Malone put the puck past NU netminder Mike Gilhooly to knot the game at one, with 1:59 left to play in the second. Less than a minute later, Keith Anderson came-a-knockin', as he scored off his own rebound for what would be the game-winning goal.
For 10th ranked St. Cloud, Jon Cullen chipped in on every score, dishing out an assist in each of the St. Cloud's four netters. Malone finished the day with two goals.
NU recorded its lone score at the 11:08 mark of the first, with a shot from 10-feet out by Ryan Zoller. The goal was Zoller's first of the season, and tonight's game marked his first game played this year. The assists on the score were dished out by Trevor Reschny and Scott Selig.
St. Cloud added two more goals in the third, by Matt Hendricks and Malone.
NU's Gilhooly put forth a strong effort, as he stopped 25 St. Cloud shots. Scott Meyer also played well, turning away 33 of the home team's shots on net.
It was Northeastern's third consecutive loss and St. Cloud halted a two-game losing streak.
The Huskies are off until next Friday when they travel to Prono to face Maine.
