The Northeastern Huskies battled to a 0-0 tie with the third ranked Boston College Eagles.
It was the first ever 0-0 tie in Northeastern history, coming in the 68th season of Husky hockey and the 1675th ever game. Each team had a number of good scoring opportunities, particularly on power-plays late in the periods, but each time strong goaltending from Mike Gilhooly (NU) and Scott Clemmensen (BC) prevailed.
With about 14:00 remaining in the third, BC's Mike Lephart had an open-shot but hit the right goalpost. The Huskies came right back after that, leading a charge that included three or four good shots, but BC goaltender Scott Clemmensen won the battle.
Both the Huskies and Eagles narrowly avoided season-lows for shots, as NU exceeded their number by one and the Eagles by three.
Each team also avoided being shut-out for the first time during the 2000-2001 campaign.
Overall, Gilhooly stopped 28 BC shots, while Clemmensen turned away 28 Husky attempts. It was Gilhooly's second career shutout and Clemmensen's 11th.
Next up for Northeastern will be Dartmouth, where the Huskies will travel for a 7 p.m. game on December 9th.
