DURHAM, NH - Northeastern fell at ninth-ranked New Hampshire 5-2 Friday night in Durham, N.H. The win by the Wildcats is their first since a 4-1 victory Jan. 19 over NU in Durham.

UNH got four goals by four different players to take a 4-0 lead at 12:11 of the second period. The four goals forced a goalie change for the Huskies, the first in-game goalie switch of the season for the Huskies. Jason Braun came on in place of Mike Gilhooly. Gilhooly had played over 900 consecutive minutes in net for NU, starting 15 straight games. Braun had not played since Dec. 1 at Maine. Gilhooly made 18 saves, Braun 11. Ty Conklin had 28 stops for the Wildcats, including 14 in the third period.

Colin Hemingway opened the scoring for the Wildcats at 7:42 of the first period. UNH would add a second goal in the first period, this one came while the Wildcats were shorthanded. Sean Austin took a pass at the point from Corey-Joe Ficek and beat Gilhooly.

UNH added two more goals in the second period, both coming with Gilhooly still in net. Garrett Stafford got the puck in the slot and beat Gilhooly glove side at 2:43. The fourth UNH goal came at 12:11 by Darren Haydar who got the puck behind the NU net, skated even with the left post and scored with a backhander. The goaltender switch came after the fourth UNH goal.

NU got a point back on the power-play. Willie Levesque deflected a Mike Jozefowicz shot past Ty Conklin at 17:05. It was a power-play goal and Levesque's 10th of the season, and his ninth point in the last six games.

In the third period, with two UNH players and one NU player in the penalty box, Husky coach Bruce Crowder gambled by pulling Braun creating a five-on-three, less than six minutes into the period. The move created numerous scoring chances for the Huskies, but Conklin was up to the task each time. But the Huskies would beat Conklin, later in the period on the power-play. After a flurry in front, Graig Mischler finally got the puck and stuffed it past a sprawling Conklin at 8:45, cutting the UNH lead to 4-2. The Huskies now have eight power-play goals in the last six games. Over that same stretch , Mischler has had three goals and seven assists.

But NU would get no closer and UNH sealed the win on a goal by Jim Abbott at 11:08 of the third.

For the game, UNH had 34 shots, NU 30. The Wildcats take the season series from NU 2-1, with both victories coming in the Whittemore Center.

The Huskies next play on Monday Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. against Harvard in the consolation game of the 49th Annual Beanpot at the FleetCenter.
