North Andover, Mass. - Senior Chris Lynch (Duxbury, MA) netted a pair of goals to lead Northeastern (18-15-3, 11-11-2) to a 3-1 win over Merrimack (10-21-2, 5-16-2) in North Andover, MA. The Huskies scored all three goals in the first period before cruising to the Hockey East win in front of 1,942. Senior Nick Parillo scored the lone goal and senior Jason Wolfe made 46 saves in the loss for the Warriors. Northeastern outshot Merrimack for the game 49-24.

Northeastern took a 1-0 lead 10:12 into the game when Lynch one-timed a centering pass from Mike Ryan (Milton, MA) while on the power-play. At the 14:00 mark, a shot by Eric Ortlip (St. Louis, MA) was saved but bounced off Wolfe's pads directly to Lynch, who immediately sent the puck into the net for his 19th score of the season. The Huskies took a comfortable three-goal lead on Jared Mudryk's (Leduc, ALB) fourth goal of the year at the 17:56 mark. From the right face-off circle, Ryan Dudgeon (Port Elgin, ONT) dropped the puck to Mudryk in the slot and the freshman wristed the puck past Wolfe.

Merrimack got on the board 6:56 into the second period. Anthony Aquino carried the puck the length of the ice before sending a pass through the crease to Parillo who netted his seventh year. Wolfe, making his first start since Merrimack's game against Northeastern on Feb. 8, stopped all 35 shots he faced over the final 40 minutes to keep the Warriors in the game.

The play of the game for NU came just three minutes into the third period. NU goalie Jason Braun (Fruitport, MI) went to play the puck behind the net. But it took a funny bounce off the boards and wound up in front of an NU open net. Merrimack appeared to have an easy goal but Ortlip slid in front of the net to make the save. Merrimack had another crack at it on the rebound but against Ortlip got his body in front of the puck and finally Braun was able to cover up.

Braun was very strong in net for the Huskies as he stopped 23 of 24 shots. Braun was making his first start since a 4-1 win over St. Lawrence Nov. 24. Freshman Keni Gibson (Stittsville, ONT) had started the last 22 games in net for NU.

The Huskies snapped a seaosn-long four-game losing streak with the win. NU concludes the regular seasoin with an 18-15-3 record, 11-11-2 in Hockey East. Merrimack finishes the season at 10-21-2, 5-16-2 in Hockey East. The Huskies won the season seires from the Warriors 2-1.
